so out of everything i have ever written, there are two posts that come up over and over, almost every week: the one on the eng pendulum, and the one on why arbitrarily-wide structured data blobs are your proper source of truth, not metrics or logs. -> 

if you've been wrapping your head around why this matters (events are spans! spans are events! you can derive all other data types from the AWSDB! .. oh boy that string, groan) ... be sure and catch this recent-ish post by @shelbyspees. 

this one is pretty killer too. walks you through debugging something with liz, and the process of instrumenting your code.

i think people have this idea that it's Hard and Complicated and Time Consuming ... when it takes almost no mental friction at all.
