This is a body appointed by Facebook to take on a role defined by Facebook on Facebook’s terms. It has just tweeted that it will not make its first rulings till ‘late fall’ ie after the presidential election. Does anybody spot a problem here?

I would really appreciate a public discussion that includes people I know & respect who are part of this. Inc what this means? ‘We don’t expect the Board to regularly share opinions outside of our decisions’??? @HelleThorning_S @arusbridger @jamalgreene @JulieOwono @nighatdad

My understanding is that this is Nick Clegg’s latest Great Idea. The same Nick Clegg who wrote this breathtaking piece of propaganda last week. On what terms were the members engaged? Have you signed contracts? Are you being paid?

What does it mean you’re not ‘expected’ to share opinions? Why are you only addressing content? Why not a wider consideration of Facebook harms? What about about comments y’day from @rashadrobinson @JGreenblattADL @DerrickNAACP ?
