One of the parts I like most about the job is when we can decrease the number of gatekeepers one has to go through to access global markets.
There are tons of talented people in India who could write on e.g. finance, and now don’t need to convince a bank to give them a shot to.
(And in an arbitrage opportunity this long-time Gifu resident can very much appreciate, if you’re selling to readers in New York, SF, Tokyo, etc, you can set market prices for global financial capitals regardless of what job offers locally would come in at.)
(The pundit in me thinks that Substack will eventually have more very successful authors outside of the finance community than in it, but the early adopter set is there in large part because, as @ByrneHobart observed recently in his newsletter, "that's where the money is.")
