I've been excited about APIs before, frequently, but never been so excited about being potentially passed as an argument to an API.

This has always struck me as example of "Why does literally every company in a whole host of industries have to independently reinvent a business process with a host of subtle and bordering-on-catastrophic failure modes when it could be one team that actually cares about it?"
