Patrick McKenzie+ Your Authors @patio11 I work for the Internet, at @stripe, mostly on accelerating startups. Opinions here are my own. Sep. 01, 2020 1 min read + Your Authors

Stripe is hiring for our engineering team in Tokyo.

I think if you follow me you can already guess most of my pitch for Stripe, so the interesting bits for this particular job vis other Tokyo engineering opportunities:

* Extremely high impact on a small, talented team
* Extremely multinational office serving users in and ex-Japan
* Your work will often appear in global products; unlike many places, our X engineering offices are intentionally not focused just on X market entry

* Lots of room to grow and optimism, both vis your own role and vis the Japanese market generally. The people who work here aren't here because HQ wanted some caretakers or market entry; we're here because we want to enable the startups that will transform the Japanese economy.

Plus if for some reason you follow me for relatable Japanese banking content this job will get you a lifetime supply of it.

(That is actually a benefit. Really. We get to help partners upgrade standards and operations, introduce products which don't exist yet in Japan, etc.)

You can follow @patio11.
