Must-read on int’l lessons: effective response (both public health & economy) NOT about lockdown.

About strict border control & robust test/trace/isolate.  https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/sep/27/covid-second-coming-how-did-britain-get-back-in-this-mess

Increasingly frustrated that in the UK, suppression is equated with lockdown. Suppression can actually be done with robust test/trace/isolate and strict border checks, and minimal restrictions. This is how S. Korea & Taiwan saved their economies. Lockdowns are a last resort.

There is an unhelpful public/media discourse of pro v. anti-lockdown. This is false- who is actually 'pro-lockdown'? This is about finding a sustainable solution until there's a vaccine/better treatments/mass testing, more info on re-infection & immunity, & clarity on Long COVID.

'Sustainable solutions' in longer-term can be elimination & travel bubbles (like New Zealand, Taiwan, China, islands), voluntary compliance w/guidance, mass testing (like South Korea), or trying to achieve some level of population immunity (like Sweden). Cost/benefits to each.
