Jeremy is right- tough decisions. Control COVID-19 to low levels with test/trace/isolate & real border checks, or accept certain # of deaths & disability. Problem is lifting all restrictions won’t give full economy recovery (bc behaviour changes) & strain on health services.

Case fatality rate low bc of top medical treatment. If not enough beds or oxygen for all who need care, it will jump much higher. This means health services coming under strain again for all patients with all needs & doctors making difficult triage decisions on who to offer care.

Sero-prevalence (antibody) studies show rich countries around 10% exposure. Long way to go to get to 60-70% exposure. At that point, if immunity doesn’t last (already seen re-infection), more likely to see epidemic cycles.

Understand anger and frustration and grief esp after 6 months of this. But the problem is the virus & muddled govt responses, not public health. Virus isn’t going away until govts actively make a strategy to deal with the situation taking a multi-year view.
