Had a really good chat with my MRI technician today. She said surgery has *greatly* progressed in recent years-- she had a niece who had a really bad ovarian cyst and they were able to get rid of it with just 3 tiny incisions + probes, and kept most of the ovary intact.
She told me not to settle for big surgical cuts if I can avoid it, to know there are more options now. She specifically said to look into this institute for what they've been able to do, said they work with a lot of pro athletes that need the best care. https://www.cedars-sinai.org/locations/kerlan-jobe-surgery-center-225.html …
(My context is a broken ankle that might've resulted in torn ligaments and other soft tissue damage that might require surgery, but I don't know yet, just got the MRI today.)
