1. So I'm a little behind on @phoenixzoo elephant gossip but their situation is terrible.
They have two Asian elephant females left as you said...they had to euthanize one earlier this year.
Thankfully, both of the gals they have left are senior citizens.

2. But as you said @MyIndOpinion, because they don't get along, they are kept apart and only one of them is allowed outside at once.
I'm hoping the @phoenixzoo won't take on any new elephants when their two elephants pass away.
3. Keeping an elephant isolated is the cruelest thing you can do to them. Truly. Now, the zoo has no other option in this case, if elephants are going to fight then you have to separate them. But that's when you send your elephants to a sanctuary!
4. Elephants in a zoo are under so much stress, it's no wonder that they don't get along with each other. At a sanctuary, elephants can be paired up with an elephant they get along with and have a companion which they need desperately.
And they get lots of land to roam on.
