1) Enjoyed “Barbarians” on Netflix.
Good historical fiction about the Battle of the Teutobourg Forest, which established the Rhine as the northern frontier of the Roman Empire after three Roman legions were betrayed, massacred and lost their eagles.
2) Aside: Barry Bannister, the Stifel strategist, wrote an epic note circa 2002 after the tech bubble burst and energy/materials/EM were ascendant.
His note compared this shift to the Battle of Teutobourg Forest in terms of permanently altering the world’s geopolitical balance.
3) For whatever reason, that note always stayed with me and I thought of it as I watched the show.
