France’s plan to rein in Big Tech (and Ireland and Luxembourg). A short thread.

Digital Services Act: France pitches new obligations for online marketplaces, including preventing that dangerous or non-compliant goods are sold online + ramp up the fight against counterfeit products.

Country-of-origin principle: France recommends the possibility of reallocating cases from the lead regulator to the country-of-destination regulator “by mutual agreement.” Why? Because GDPR isn't really working properly, the French say.

Online advertising and "brand safety": Very large online platforms should ensure that the content against which they sell advertising is legal, or face paying compensation to advertisers.

Digital Markets Act: France wants to add web browsers and voice assistants in the scope (so does Germany). Voilà.
