We live in a age where financial surveillance and censorship is one of the most effective tactics used to persecute marginalized communities and still people will make the argument that state surveillance and control over financial systems is not only good, but necessary.
There is a lot to dislike about the cryptocurrency ecosystem, but there are few other movements in the world full of people who actually care about funding and building systems that distribute power and resist surveillance and censorship.
It seems incredibly fucked up to defend a system that regularly denies access to, and even criminalizes, people who fall outside of US puritanical social norms.
Because you know what, no matter how bad scammers and fraudsters are - or how many there are, they don't criminalize, imprison or kill people because they don't like who they fuck, how the fuck or what kinds of plants they ingest or their religion, or ethnicity or nationality.
