Cwtch Beta 1.3 is out!

I'm very excited about the file sharing experiment. We plan for it to be a foundational layer for so many other features and experiments.

Please help us test it out!

We are being deliberate about file sharing. As critical a feature as it is there are also many risks in a metadata resistant setting.

For now you will have to explicitly opt-in to enabling file sharing, and Cwtch will not attempt to open any received files.

For more information on the File Sharing experiment you should check out the FAQ by @errorinn in this weeks Discreet Log

Aside from inline images and audio overlays - file sharing opens up some higher level protocol options for us (e.g. larger messages, group-hosted messages, content-addressable messages) which I am excited to start experimenting with.

Incredibly proud of how this release came together. File sharing went from design to implementation across 4-different platforms in a single month.

And I think it speaks to how far our little non-profit team has come.
